The very name Namring makes tea experts sit up and take notice happily. One of the largest gardens in Darjeeling, it is known for having a top-quality first harvest every year. The garden stretches from the high plateaus of Namring Upper to the highlands with their many rhododendron bushes and wildflowers, down to the Teesta River. All year long, the tea bushes, which grow at an altitude of up to 2,500 metres, are carefully tended so that they sprout at the right time and, at the beginning of the season, produce the fresh, young shoots that are responsible for a wonderfully fragrant first-flush delight.
